Can I be excused from jury duty if I am a student?

No. Full-time student status does not qualify as an excuse from service. We do not excuse out-of-state students who are residents of Los Angeles County. You will need to postponement your service until one of the school breaks.

If you are not a Los Angeles resident, you will need to complete Sections A of your summons, in its entirety, D, F, and sign and date Section G. You will also need to provide us with proof of residency by providing us with our new address in Section D and a copy of one of the following with your new address: personal utility bill, proof of voter’s registration, driver’s license or property tax bill.
