Where can I get information about a criminal case?

The Clerk’s Office will index a name in the index of criminal cases when requested. Indexing is limited to cases filed within Los Angeles County. Requests may be made in person in the Clerk’s Office or through the mail. Results may be picked up or returned by mail in a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Indexing and case disposition information is not provided over the telephone.

  • Important
  • Indexing requests that take more than 10 minutes to complete incur a $15 fee, payable by the person making the request (GC§70627(c)).

Indexing is also available on the Criminal Defendant Index. Each index search on the Criminal Defendant Index incurs a public access fee to reimburse the Court for the costs of providing the public access to its electronic records.
