The official language used for the content of the Los Angeles Superior Court public website is English. Limited jurisdiction cases are cases in which the dollar amount or value of property in dispute does not exceed $25,000.00. This includes Small Claims and most Unlawful Detainers. General jurisdiction cases include all other matters.

  • Incomplete information may be returned for Van Nuys general jurisdiction civil cases filed before January 8, 2001.
    In compliance with Code of Civil Procedure section 1161.2, Unlawful Detainer case information is not available to the public for the first 60 days after filing. For cases filed after January 1, 2004, this section further requires that the case remain unavailable in the event any defendant prevails during this 60 day period.

    Probate cases filed prior to the dates listed below may return incomplete information.
