ADA - Access Information For Persons With Disabilities

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), a federal civil rights statute, requires all state and local governmental entities, including the courts, to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities who have an interest in court activities, programs, and services. The Superior Court does not discriminate on the basis of disability in employment or in the admission and access to its services, programs or activities. The Court has designated an ADA Coordinator at each Court facility to carry out each facility's compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements of the ADA.

Request for Special Accommodation by Persons with Disabilities and Order Form

Persons with disabilities who require a special accommodation to access Court programs, services or activities may request the needed accommodation by filling out the Request for Accommodations by Persons with Disabilities and Order form, Judicial Council Form MC-410. Forms are available by clicking on the form name below, at the Clerk's office and the ADA Coordinator's office of each Courthouse, and by mail upon request to the ADA Coordinator's office. Submit the completed form to the Clerk's office or ADA Coordinator's office of the Courthouse at issue. Jurors requesting a special accommodations should submit the completed form to the Juror Services Department.

ADA Coordinator Information

Pursuant to the ADA, the Court has designated an ADA Coordinator at each Court facility to carry out each facility's compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements of the ADA. If you have any questions about specific accessibility issues at any courthouse (accessible parking, accessible paths of travel, accessible restrooms, wheelchair access in a particular courtroom, etc.), please select the appropriate Courthouse from the menu or contact the ADA Coordinator.

Language Access Services

Any party in a case requiring a sign language interpreter, realtime transcription or other service may contact Language Access Services at (213) 745-3183 and select Option O (zero) to speak with staff.

Assistive Listening System (ALS)

Portable Assistive Listening Systems (ALS) are available and may be requested from courtroom staff or the facility's ADA Coordinator.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART)

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Service is available for people who are deaf or hearing impaired and may be requested from courtroom staff or the Court Reporter Services at (213) 745-3183 and select Option O (zero).

Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD)

For persons who are deaf or hearing impaired, TDD lines have been installed for all questions related to the following Court program, service or activity:

  • Jurors who are deaf or hearing impaired and require a sign language interpreter, the access number is (888) 354-0441 (TDD)
  • Los Angeles Superior Court Human Resources, the access number is (213) 613-4797 (TDD)
  • ADA Coordinator, Stanley Mosk Courthouse, the access number is (213) 633-4863 (TDD)
